May 2024

President’s report

Some may say the month of May is the gateway to summer. I can subscribe to that! One of my favorite things is seeing new blooms all around. New blooms represent new opportunities, another season to grow and shine. May is also a month of celebration, including many graduations, Mother’s Day, Armed Forces Day, Victoria Day, and Memorial Day!

As you are likely aware, we have a few things happening right now that involve you, our members. Our member survey and our sponsor survey are open until June 1. Please take the time to share your feedback! This conference is intended to be built for you, so we need you. We need your feedback, input, and insight. Help make us better and wiser.

We’ve also made the volunteer form available. Here is where you may express your wish to be involved in an AMUG committee. These are also due by June 1. We build the teams within the committees from the list of candidates created from the volunteer submissions. If you want to be involved, this is exactly how you let us know.

A voting request regarding a bylaw change was sent to all current AMUG Members. The board cannot make this decision; a membership vote is required to enact this bylaw change. That said, the board isn’t looking to create influence in any direction… we are seeking your vote and your directive. If you didn’t receive the email, please contact Heather Natal (secretary@amug.com).

We are preparing for our board strategy meeting in July. We will review every survey response and build on the insights from the members’ and sponsors’ inputs. We intend to have AMUG 2025 focused on education and collaboration within the AM technology user community. Our focus is to advance the user… educate, empower, and inspire!

As we navigate these upcoming summer months, we are focused on you. If you have insights or feedback you want us to know, please complete your survey or email me directly at president@amug.com.

I wish you a month of joy and blessings!

AMUG is requesting your help
On your next trip to Chicago, consider the Palmer House Hilton

AMUG needs your help! We were unable to meet our contractual requirements for room nights at the Palmer House Hilton. Instead of paying the attrition fees, the hotel’s executive staff has given AMUG an opportunity to hold functions and parimatch sports betting book stays at the Palmer House to offset the deficit.

For example, if you plan on going to IMTS, staying at the Palmer House Hilton would reduce AMUG’s deficit with the hotel. If you and others in your party are interested in staying at the Palmer House, please contact Tom Sorovetz to make arrangements. While the room rate is not discounted, if enough people are interested in staying there, Tom may be able to negotiate a lower room rate.

The more people who stay, the less AMUG must pay.

Company meetings are another way to help AMUG offset the deficit. If your company is interested in having meetings this year at the Palmer House (room nights, food and beverage, and meetings room), please let Tom know so he can work things out with the hotel.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Tom Sorovetz at EventManager@amug.com.

Join the team: Volunteer for an AMUG committee

The application process for new AMUG Committee Members will close on June 1, 2024. Interested AMUG Members in good standing who attended the 2024 AMUG Conference should apply using the volunteer form.

Committee terms last one year, starting in July 2024 and ending in June 2025.

While filling out the volunteer form, applicants can choose up to three committees of interest. There is also a section to include a short bio, where you can note skills and details that could set you apart from others. This extra information is always appreciated when there are many applicants to review.

For a listing of committees and brief descriptions of their functions, visit the parimatch live sports.

The volunteer form will be open until June 1, 2024. Contact volunteer@amug.com for any questions!

Introduction to Daniel Landgraf

With great honor and excitement, I announce my appointment to the AMUG Board of Directors. Since my first encounter with AMUG, I have regarded it as the pinnacle event in the additive industry—a dynamic platform fostering unparalleled exchange and collaboration.

Let’s talk about AMUG—it’s not your average industry event. From the get-go, it’s been the go-to spot for anyone in AM. And why? Because it’s all about the exchange. The conversations, the connections, the collaborations—you name it, AMUG’s got it. It’s like a giant think tank where ideas flow freely and innovation knows no bounds.

For the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of rolling up my sleeves and getting involved on-site and behind the scenes. Volunteering and serving Parimatch casino app on committees—it’s been a great experience, and every moment has been worth it. Because when you’re part of something as dynamic as AMUG, giving back is a no-brainer.

So, why am I taking on this new role? Simple. I want to help make AMUG 2025 a complete success for the community, as it has been for many years.

I am deeply grateful for the trust the AMUG community and fellow board members placed in me. Together, we have an opportunity to continue to shape the future of AM, driving innovation and fostering collaboration on a global scale.

Metal powders in AM: An exploration of sustainable production, usage, and recycling

Sustainability has risen to the top of the global manufacturing agenda. While metal AM has long been considered a green technology because of its net-shape capabilities, it is far from being parimatch live sports betting a process without environmental impact.

Martin McMahon explores how global efforts are being made to improve this through the use of more sustainable metal powders, combined with a greater focus on powder reuse and recycling. Inextricably linked to this are, of course, economic gains and, in terms of supply chain, national security benefits.

Dive into the March/April edition of 3D ADEPT Mag

When you know that an application or solution can change someone’s life, every explanation can be a real puzzle to demystify. Yet, this time it’s different, and that’s probably because we’ve been out in the field. We talked with users, and a few times, we met patients who were benefiting from 3D-printed solutions.

In this issue of 3D ADEPT Mag, we wanted to convey feedback from the field. We wanted to share these benefits: through industrial machine tests, the use of specific materials or AM solutions, feedback from doctors and medical experts, and even key information on the approval of 3D-printed medical products and their access to the market. For once, the words to explain all these things easily came to us.
